seatbelt-belt

Piper sermons should come with a seat belt.

I have a very poor memory.  I mean a very poor memory.  The events of my life just kind of run together. My wife, however, is exactly the opposite. She can recall with great accuracy the events that only surround her life, but my life also.  There is no doubt this is part of the reason that God has placed her in my life.

However, I will never forget when I heard John Piper’s Sunday morning message from January 5th, 2003.  His sermon titled “How to Receive the Word of Man as the Word of God” (taken from 1 Thessalonians 2:9-16).  Some of the things he said in this sermon I have never forgotten.  “You can say it 100 times!” “Your gonna need it when you die!” “Learn the scriptures.”

What is most amazing is that I heard it 6 years ago but I didn’t listen to it (or believe it or put it into practice) and what he said in it for 6 years, but I never forgot it.  I have never been able to get it out of my head.  Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, it has never left. For 6 years…

So ya, you should give it a listen (You can listen below or download it for yourself here).  But buckle your seat belt.  Piper sermons aren’t for the faint of heart.
